Autumn and things around Paris

School, class, conference - not necessarily in that order of importance or stress. So, for now, some pretty pictures of Paris.

You can always find more on flickr.com (including my snaps from the manifestation for Transsexual Rights, a trip to the country with my class, a party at the Sciences Po MPA)

Does this post mean that Transsexuals don't have rights in France?

An answer from Sister Apostasia (pictured ;-) :

Well, transsexuals do have some rights. But basically, the problem is that if you want to be recognized as a transsexual, you have to go through a psychiatric expertise which will estimate your "gender dysphoria" and whether you should receive hormonal treatment (which may be paid by the Health Insurance). Basically, trans (MTF or FTM) ask for the right to choose their gender without this psychiatrist expertise : you are what you want to be, full stop. And they ask for a simplification of paperwork (they want that IDs don't state one's gender).
It's still very commun in France for trans people to be stigmatized, i.e very little access to the labour market for instance, which forces many to engage as sex workers. Hope this helps. Glittery blessings from Apostasia.
